Rachel Stephen, LCSW

Hi! I’m Rachel Stephen, LCSW, a therapist and co-founder of The Wellness within You.  I’m here because I love helping people, and I believe that everyone can improve their life, their mental health, and their world.  I know every person has something that makes them special and unique. By building on our strengths, interests, and wisdom, we can all unlock our potential for growth, health, and wellness.  I don’t have all the answers (who does?), but I’ll work with you to help connect with your inner strengths and develop them in new ways so you can discover the Wellness within You!

I’ve been in the mental health field since I earned my Bachelor’s degree in psychology and Spanish, followed by a Master’s degree in social work with a concentration in mental health and substance abuse.  I was honored to work as an intern in a hospice service, which was a humbling and inspiring experience. Since that time, I have been practicing clinical psychotherapy, and continually expanding my education to stay up-to-date on best practices in mental health.  I achieved my OASIS trainer certification, which means that I can train others in quick, effective techniques to manage stress. In my years of practice, I also noticed that many people have lived through difficult experiences like trauma - and trauma can have a big effect on our mental health.  That’s why I use a trauma-informed approach to therapy: I help empower people to manage and overcome past trauma, so the past doesn’t have to define the future.

I helped establish The Wellness within You in order to create a place where people feel free to be themselves and discover how their unique qualities can help them overcome life’s challenges.  I know that there is something special about everyone - even if it can sometimes be hard to see that in yourself. I believe therapy is an opportunity to connect with your strengths and learn how to use your strengths to build a healthy, authentic, and vibrant future!

How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.
